In this ever-changing world, are we providing our youth with the skills and agility necessary to succeed? Are we preparing our school leaders to effectively tackle and teach 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, curiosity and team-based leadership?

DID YOU KNOW...

• The amount of new information produced in the four years from 1999 and 2002 approximately equaled the amount produced in the entire history of the world previously?
• Out of 100 ninth graders in Hawai‘i, only 68 graduate from high school on time?
• Seventy percent (70%) of the new jobs in our global economy require a college education?
• Eighty-one percent (81%) of high school seniors in Hawai‘i who take local college entrance exams need further help with their reading or math to be fully prepared for college and even the workforce?

A New Dialogue – Schools Haven't Changed, But Our World Has

This information-generating age makes it impossible to keep up with new developments and content-based knowledge. Rather than continue to push more and more content onto our youth, we need our youth to master the "skills of a living curriculum" necessary to succeed in an environment that is constantly shifting.

Academy 21 – Our Passion Is To Prepare All Youth For College, Career And Citizenship

Academy 21's mission is to build and support leadership capacity to transform schools and organizations to meet the changing demands of the 21st Century.  We envision Hawai‘i and the US as a state and nation in which youth AND adults are prepared for the 21st Century:

• Our guiding belief is that collaborating with school  and organizational leaders moves leadership practices and learning from a place of isolation to collaboration, from reaction to purpose and focus, and from compliance to engagement. 

      • Our uniqueness is that we maximize diverse perspectives to transform schools and organizations. 

      • Our overall goal is to support educators to graduate youth ready for college, career and citizenship.
